Conversations in Contrast
Galleria Nicolas Greenbelt
July 22 – August 2, 2026
Conversations in Contrast brings together four artists whose practices are unmistakably distinct, yet collectively reveal the richness and breadth of abstraction as we see it today. Rather than pursuing a singular aesthetic or theme, the exhibition embraces differences as its central theme, inviting viewers to experience how contrasting visual languages can engage in a meaningful dialogue. By highlighting four different styles through contrasting artistic voices, Galleria Nicolas presents four narratives featuring varied ideas, techniques and perspectives.
Each artist approaches abstraction through a deeply personal lens. The exhibition unfolds as a conversation among contrasting sensibilities where fluid forms meets structured compositions and vibrant organic motifs stand alongside restrained minimalism. Whether inspired by the the elegance of movement, the expressive power of color and gesture, the rhythms of nature, or the precision of geometry, the works by artists: Marco Coching, Jinky Lorenzo-Reynoso, Jax Pasimio and Jay Ragma embody unique ways of seeing and interpreting the world.
The exhibition features four accomplished artists whose practices exemplify the expansive possibilities of abstraction. Marco Coching explores movement and spatial harmony through flowing metallic forms that evoke rhythm, balance, and the illusion of infinite motion. Jinky Lorenzo-Reynoso approaches abstraction with expressive brushwork and luminous color, creating atmospheric compositions that capture emotion, light, and moments of quiet introspection. Jax Pasimio transforms botanical forms into vibrant, patterned compositions that celebrate nature’s vitality through color and intricate detail. Jay Ragma constructs detailed networks of intersecting lines and geometric structures, reflecting on architecture, memory, and the invisible systems that shape human experience. While each artist possesses a distinct visual language, together they demonstrate the remarkable breadth of contemporary abstraction, proving that four different styles can coexist in a single exhibition, each enriching the others through dialogue and contrast.
At its core, Conversations in Contrast celebrates the individuality of artistic expression. It recognizes that the strength of contemporary art lies not in uniformity but in the coexistence of diverse voices, each contributing its own narrative, process, and vision. Together, these four artists remind us that the most compelling conversations often emerge from our differences. A Fine Arts graduate of University of Santo Tomas, Marco Coching is the grandson of National Artist Francisco V. Coching, the “Dean of Filipino Illustrators”. With this in mind, Marco took on a different approach in terms of his visual storytelling, and his signature flowing elements are a presentation of the artist’s conceptual take on luminous hues and abstracted forms.
Jinky Lorenzo-Reynoso is a contemporary Filipino painter from Legazpi, Albay, whose works are distinguished by their atmospheric quality, expressive textures, and emotionally resonant landscapes and florals. She is the grandniece of renowned Filipino Impressionist Diosdado Lorenzo, one of the original Thirteen Moderns, whose artistic legacy has profoundly influenced her creative journey. Jax Pasimio is a graduate of Behavioral Science from the De La Salle University. Pasimio also finished a short Digital Arts course from the First Academy of Computer Arts. As a visual artist, she states that her source of inspiration comes from the interconnection of human patterns to the outside world. Elaborate motif, vibrant colors, and intricate detailing are all hallmarks of her visual style. Jay Ragma is a Filipino contemporary visual artist from Caloocan City whose practice is rooted in geometric abstraction. A Fine Arts graduate of the University of the East–Caloocan, he has developed a distinctive visual language that transforms simple linear elements into intricate compositions of movement, rhythm, and spatial illusion.
